Francesco Russo, Research Associate

Francesco Russo received his Bachelor in Biological Sciences (2010) and his Master degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2012) from the University of Catania under the supervision of Alfredo Ferro (full professor of Computer Sciences at University of Catania and director of the Lipari International Summer School on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics).

In 2009 he started to work on microRNAs (miRNAs), their involvement in cancer and the potential use of miRNAs as non-invasive biomarkers.

In June 2013 he moved to Pisa at the National Research Council (CNR) and he is currently a Research Fellow in LISM, under the supervision of Dr Marco Pellegrini.

His major research interests include: non-coding RNAs (miRNAs and long non-coding RNAs), cancer, RNA editing, biological database.
